Woo hoo! Scarf is off the loom and really beautiful, and I've done a second warp of white cottlin for our guild's Swatch Swap and some holiday towels. The swatches turned out really cute

What kind of knitting needles am I?

Silly quiz. I'm interchangable.
How many degrees of separation is this?

Congrats to Patrick on winning an award that is older than he is. Nobody deserves it more.

On the loom.

I painted this silk warp at least 2 years ago and I'm finally getting around to weaving it. It's a network drafted twill and it's coming along nicely. Choosing a weft was a challenge, since I didn't like the one I'd dyed for it. Luckily I had some silk I'd bought f rom Robin and Russ at the CHT conference a two years ago. Finally an implulse buy paid off.

1942. Ashland, KY. This is my dad's graduation picture. I'm learning how to scan photos. Since these photos lived in a smoke-filled house for about 40 years, the tips at www.scantips.com made a great difference in the quality of the scan.

So, it's been three months since I've touched this blog. At least now I have an excuse. I've been weaving! This is the weekend of the Contemporary Handweavers of Houston annual Show and Sale. I actually have items in it this year! This is the rayon and rayon chenille scarf that was a bear to weave and turned out to have a wonderful hand and a pretty neat look. The hand dyed warp was more obscured than I thought it would be, but it still came out to be an attractive piece. I also have another scarf and four kitchen towels in the sale.

So a woman starts a blog.....
then doesn't type anything for 3 years. Go figure. Here's a basic introduction to what I think may be coming up on this blog: things about hand weaving, knitting, crafts, librarianship, pet ownership, retirement planning, spiritual growth, and whatever else comes to mind.

a rambling rant of a woman who weaves
